Incredible Maleny Manor Experience

We must again send our most heartfelt thank you for making our wedding day so special. My bridesmaids have both commented since on how calm I was throughout the day (perhaps not what they expected!) and that was because I knew everything would be handled professionally by your team, and hence I had nothing to worry about but to enjoy the day. Our guests that we have spoken to since had such a wonderful time and this was so important to us, THANK YOU.

I am a bit sad that I won’t be dealing with you anymore and that is just a testament to how friendly and helpful your team is.

From initial dealings with Marlene and Peta, to Amy managing the details and the day, and the other wait and bar staff who were just delightful, it really shines through that you love your jobs.

Our favourite thing was having our whole wedding at one location, and what a stunning location it is!

To be able to have our ceremony, garden party and reception at one location, yet in different settings (pavilion, garden and manor) made for a very casual and enjoyable day for all. We also enjoyed being able to have photos close by while our guests enjoyed the garden party, so we were able to still be a part of it. The number of photographic locations within the property mean it’s easy to get gorgeous photographs and not stray too far from your guests, which we loved. Also, staying at the manor and having breakfast with our close family and friends the next morning was a wonderful way to come down from such a high…to still enjoy the gorgours surroundings and linger in the mountains a little bit before having to pack everything up and head home.

My advice to future Maleny Manor couples would be to use the suppliers recommended by Maleny Manor as they work together so well and communicate to each other about your needs for a seamless day. We were particularly thankful for the recommendation of Bo Peeps Babysitting Service to look after the 12 children we had at our wedding. They set up the loft with games and activities and looked after the children during dinner so the parents could enjoy their own dinner and speeches. It made the evening flow really well, with the kids rejoining us for dancing.

The whole Maleny Manor experience was incredible, and as mentioned above, you were so professional that I knew I didn’t need to worry about a thing. For me, the exceptional service was the things I did not expect, such as arriving back from our photos offsite to our bridal party waiting on the balcony of the bridal suite for us, and being able to go up the exterior stairs to greet them with a quick drink and freshen up privately before entering the reception. Also, coming back to our room at the end of the evening to rose petals and a jug of water & glasses (sounds trivial but made it much more relaxing) was a lovely surprise and finished the night in a sweet way.

Maleny Manor Superstar

Our favourite moment from the wedding day was probably the ceremony. It was such a magical experience, with the hinterland as the backdrop on one side and all our loved ones on the other we couldn’t have imagined it any better.

To all future Maleny Manor couples the best advice is to trust the Maleny Manor Team! There is a reason they have won so many awards. They are experts at what they do! The suppliers they recommend are all amazing as well as tried and tested so let them take the stress from you and do what they do best. It gives you the opportunity to really enjoy the planning and the lead up to the big day.

Marlene, you are amazing. On the day you made us all feel like we were part of the family there. You headed off problems before I even knew about them. You spent time running around and making sure everything was perfect, even adding additional foliage to our chair for photos, all these little things that I would have never even expected and you just did them.

Peta and Amy thank you for being fantastic and helping me out with all our pre wedding questions and queries. My inbox has been feeling a little quiet now that I don’t have emails coming in from you! Amy thank you for everything on the day. You made the night run seamlessly and I’m so glad I had you to help figure out our run sheet beforehand amongst everything else you did.

We will never be able to thank you all enough for everything that you did leading up to the big day and on the day itself!

Every single person who works as part of the Maleny Manor crew is a superstar!

I was serious Marlene when I said I would move in! We want everyone we know to get married there just so we can come back and enjoy it over and over again.

Sending all the love and good vibes you so truly deserve,

Tia and Nick Miles

Walk a day in her shoes

Walk a day in her shoes…..

Challenge accepted!

We all think after a few years we know all about it …but do we actually?

No sorry we don’t, so operation walk in her shoes began.

Step one organise the details with some great friends in the industry.

Step two get the right undies, shoes and attitude and go for it.

Step 3 try to act natural in front of the camera with the fab Talitha from Artography. Another great learning curve!

Elizabeth de Varga and Makeup by Kim McLeod came to the rescue with at least 15 gowns , jewels headpieces and the know how…thank goodness.

As our Brides often get ready onsite it was the best exercise we could have done to see how it feels, how long the process takes and how to manoeuvre in a gorgeous gown when you are not used to frocking up.

Where we out of our comfort zone YES, did we feel odd, then great ,then awkward …ummm yes we did in a beautiful, fun kind off way.

It made us reassess spacing, cueing of entrances to the ceremonies, patience when you move and the gown is not flowing…shoulders back flick and kick…smile and turn.

It gave us a better idea of the timing from upstairs to the ceremony pavilion and how to go about it. How long it takes for the girls to start to relax into the process of being a superstar for the day.

An appreciation of how much they may be out of their comfort zone hoping all the planning and choices come together on the day so you are the one in the white dress looking and feeling amazing.

So not only was it a great team building exercise and much cleaner than Tuff Mudder or Paintball the Kitchen staff suggested but it gave us some great tips.

  1. We all have bits that work and do not work for us choose a gown made for you and altered for you with love and care.
  2. Makeup can be a breeze when you have wedding professionals
  3. Getting ready onsite is enough without transporting to and fro to a venue.
  4. A relaxed environment is essential.
  5. You will need help with a long train or veil and we can advise the bridesmaids better on gown handling work place health and safety now for all involved. Yes some gowns are a work of walking art and have to be treated accordingly.
  6. A pre shoot for your engagement will make you more comfortable and cancel out the poses you think my work in which on reflection simply look odd.
  7. Staircase guide advice now comes from first hand experience.
  8.  Bouquet positioned bellybutton and out making a beautiful frame of your silhouette with your elbows.
  9. Have a spot for tissues or a hanky or a gown with pockets…very handy.
  10. Enjoy it and the process with all your heart and with some assistance from the venue and those that care about you have the time of your life.
