At the moment all the raptors that come into the Australia zoo wildlife hospital have to travel to Currumbin on the Gold Coast to start there fitness training before release,thats about 2 and a half hours drive,so you can imagine the stress these birds go through on their travels,some dont even make it , so we are trying to start our own business to help us do so. 

We have a wildlife demonstrator licence, wich enables us to hold our beautiful barn owl(China) and our wedge tailed eagle (Morgan), with these 2 beautifull birds,we will be doing educational talks to schools ,

daycares,and wedding photos,and one day will be doing ring bearing with the barn owl,still alot of training to do before the owl is ready,so will be training china the owl at  beautifull Maleny Manor. 

We were lucky enough to meet the lovely staff at the Maleny manor Hinterland wedding expo,and China the owl was a hit with everyone!!! we even got our first wedding booking for August! This might be an extra special way to fundraise and a unique way of promoting and caring for such beautiful wildlife.

The birds we have (the eagle and owl) can not be put back into the wild, the owl was found as a chick and hand raised,so depends on us to much for food and would not survive out in the wild,Morgan the eagle was found on the road beside 3 other dead eagles,unfortunately was hit by a car and will never be able to fly again ,,but we are hopeing to one day use our eagle for photos etc,he is not ready just yet,he is glove trained to me but still needs to be conditioned to other people and new things,the good thing about him,he has no aggression at all!!useually eagles are a little aggressive,he is the most beautifull eagle in the world!! so if all works out will eventually will open our property to the public,for in house experiences/photos and free flight shows with our birds.It would be lovely to some how link in with Maleny Manor for weddings 

Jason and I(Crystal) both work up at Australia zoo in the bird show as bird trainers,we both absolutely love our job,I’m casual so work 4 days a week and Jason works fulltime so we are both very busy and trying to juggle everything the best we can.

We live on a block in Beerwah that is just under 1 acre,with lots of parrots and two enclosures up the back for our eagle and owl,so not much room for what we want to do,we are hoping to buy a large property around the Sunshine Coast preferably Glass House mountains,set up lots of enclosures to house raptors who need fitness training before release,to keep this running,will still be demonstrating with our owl and working part time at the zoo,as u can imagine these birds cost a lot to feed,housing requirements etc,and will be all be comeing out of our pay.

We are very passionate lovers of raptors and will do what we can to care for the injured and if it is weddings that end up helping to save and preserve these creatures that would be a really happy positive ending. Phone 

I am so sad that it is all over. Organising our wedding was one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done and a lot of that is thanks to you amazing ladies. I miss our emails and calls and visits…you guys really did become part of the family.

They fell in love with the Manor Cat before the Manor.

They are such a beautiful caring couple that wedding planning took a gentle back seat as needy animals took  first place in the lead up to the day.We knew they were lovely, kind and caring individuals but then for their honeymoon they volunteer in a vet surgery in Suva …not your normal Fiji Island getaway.

Being passionate animal lovers we designed a special vegetarian menu for them, the double baked Spinach and Gruyere cheese soufflés were amazing and they were delivered light and fluffy to the tables.The Polenta stacks with the Onion Jam  entree are shown in the images.

The evening before Karen and Trent’s wedding, there was a shocking car accident on the Montville Road just at the front of their accommodation,Karen being a vet set up an onsite triage instantly.

Thescary part was that Tent’s cousin was in the car, he checked himself out of hospital the next day to attend the wedding with a few broken bones and bruising.

Such selfless acts of kindness resulted in a most beautiful couple who put others before themselves and they make you glad to have had them in you life for a short while.

It just shows if you give more than you take, your heart is full and your soul is replenished, then love simply flows.The love that was in the room and the heartfelt speeches let you know this couple was indeed onto a special start for their lives together.

Maybe the world needs the Karens and Tents,just  so we can see that basic love and caring is really all that we need to fill our souls.

As a venue, Maleny Manor offered the complete package for our wedding and I remember on the morning of our wedding I took 15 minutes standing in the pavilion taking in the gorgeous setting and thinking how perfect it really was for our special day. All of our family and guests were completely delighted by our ceremony and reception at the Manor and we just can’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else – really was perfect!

The flowing manicured grounds and fabulous catering adding to the already perfect setting for our family and guests. We absolutely love Maleny Manor for the over and above dedication and attention to detail of all the staff which allowed us to enjoy every minute of our day.

Dear Marlene, Peta and the rest of the team at Maleny Manor,

Thank you so much for all of your help on our wedding day last Friday.

We knew straight away from our first visit that we will definitely be getting married at Maleny Manor.

After all the planning and numerous questions (with a few odd ones in there!), it was truly an amazing wedding day. We mentioned in our speech that the wedding planning journey was barely stressful due to the assistance provided by Maleny Manor. This is how every wedding journey should be!

John and I tried to take it all in as it went by incredibly fast but we are both still feeling like we are on Cloud 9! It was so much fun. I remember everywhere I looked, there was someone from Maleny Manor making sure I was ok – it was a special feeling that makes me all warm and goo-ey inside when I think about it – your service is exceptional.

As John and I didn’t want a traditional Vietnamese wedding, our only wish was to keep the tea ceremony component of it as we as a couple believe it represents respecting your parents and family members. We tried to make this as quick and simple as possible (the traditional ceremony can go for at least a few hours) and you were very accommodating in this wish of ours to combine two cultures into our wedding.

Your hospitality and service was felt not only between John and I but also amongst our guests. There were many compliments about the great service displayed – we already knew it though Some members of our family were a bit unsure about having a ‘Western’ wedding and travelling away from Brisbane but we knew that as soon as they set foot on the amazing venue with its beautiful views and beautiful staff, that any uncertainty they had would disappear. (so we stuck to our guns!)

Congratulations on all the awards that you have received. We also mentioned in our speech that you deserve every award received – I hope Maleny Manor keeps winning as there truly is no other better venue.

I am hesitating to press the send button as I will really miss our chats and emails!

I am writing to you, in my capacity as Mother of the bride, with regard to the Kirstin McKellar – Matthew Higham wedding held at Maleny Manor on Friday 15^th April 2011.

Without a doubt it was the most wonderful day for all those who attended. The venue, atmosphere, décor, food and entertainment along with our delightful guests made their day the intimate and happy event Kirstin and Matthew had dreamed it would be. The attention to the smallest of detail by you and your staff on the day ensured that everything went off perfectly. A highlight for us was the pictorial CD you provided for the day. Likewise, we have been delighted to receive so very many unsolicited compliments about the superb quality of food and service provided by Maleny Manor. To say a simple thank you is hardly adequate, but from my heart I ask you to please accept my thanks and believe me when I say you genuinely deserve it.

Kirstin and Matthew enjoyed the most amazing five week “Megamoon” taking in The Whitsunday’s, Cairns, Lizard Island, The Daintree, Bullo River Station and Uluru in the Northern Territory, followed by a walking tour of the Great Ocean Road and then back to Brisbane to spend a few days with john and I.  They have since returned to Abu Dhabi and the routine of their life and work there. However the memories and the happiness linger on and are tangible in all of our contacts with them.

Once again, please accept my sincere thanks to you and my very best wishes for a continuing successful and rewarding future personally and professionally.
